Michael was living on the streets for several years and lost all hope in humanity. Eventually he connected with SUS and was offered a place at our Third Avenue Residence in the Bronx.
"I focus on perfecting my recipes for traditional Italian favorites like lasagna or spaghetti and meatballs, and often prepare meals for my fellow residents."
Diane lives at our Valentine residence and enjoys being in the kitchen.
“I know how to weed and plant different vegetables and fruits and cook spaghetti squash. I feel I can do anything I want. I’m moving along, and my mind is getting better now.”
“SUS provided my daughter with a home, which is a lot more than simply a place to live. She shares an apartment with another woman with disabilities and they have 24 hour supervision. My daughter is well known in the neighborhood and is living her life to the full potential that she was given.”

Dominique is very shy but as soon as she saw us begin to take pictures she quickly ran into her room, did her hair and put on earrings.
"We would really like to do more and fund more partnerships with places like SUS’ Knickerbocker residence to improve the Veterans’ lives.”
Matt has been with Home Depot for 26 years and loves giving back to the community.

At the age of 68, Larry’s young at heart and hopes to find love again someday.

If you walk into Luis’ bedroom you’ll be blown away by all the amazing hand-drawn superhero illustrations that cover the walls. When we first met him he wanted to stay in the room with the door closed, and now he’s one of the first ones to jump up when it’s time for basketball. He's come a long way.
